Gripsert improves Walkway facilities for residents
Community request for improving PIHA walkway facilities saw gripsert as part of the solution.
A feasibility report and detailed design were drawn up for the Piha area by project engineers Blue Barn. With steep land and drop-offs, the project involved a mix of footpaths and boardwalks. Two sections of boardwalk totalling 80 lineal metres was constructed from Gripsert on steeper areas at the upper portion of Piha Rd. A 17 metre cantilevered walkway was built across a stormwater culvert on Marine Parade in North Piha. This was bolted to the concrete of the existing bridge, with Gripsert used for construction of the deck.
Gripsert was recommended as a robust, all-weather surface to address the steep areas and as a low maintenance solution all round. Because Blue Barn had specified Gripsert for a number of Council park projects with good results, they were confident in their recommendations to Auckland Transport.
