GRIPSERT SERVES ON STEEP SLOPES . .
gripsert was specified for TITIRANGI's landing road walkway - a 245 metre AUCKLAND COUNCIL track . . .
Reaching a height of 55metres, the walkway covers a steep and winding route linking Tangiwai Reserve and Grendon Rd. It’s one of a series of walking tracks designed to support recreation opportunities and link communities in the Waitakere region.
The consultants Harrison Grierson designed the walkway as a timber boardwalk interspersed with sections of stairs and compact landings to address the unique contours of the land. Gripsert was chosen for construction of the boardwalk and stairs by Harrison Grierson in conjunction with Auckland City Council’s project management team. With very steep slopes of up to 40 degrees they were looking for a strong slip-resistant product that had minimal maintenance requirements, but also looked good in a natural environment.
“The Gripsert product provides excellent slip resistance over steep sections of the walkway, and to date has performed very well in the damp conditions. It’s delivered cut to length so is easy to use, it’s easy to cut on site to fit around existing structures and it comes as one product so there’s no retrofitting.
“The finished construction is a practical result combined with strong visual effect that has delighted the Auckland Council, the consultants and the general public,” says Chris Smith, project manager, Fort Projects.
